Our client, a respected regional Auction House, is seeking a General Valuer and Auctioneer to join their busy team of valuers. The successful candidate would take on the responsibility for helping to catalogue the fortnightly Antiques and Interiors Sales, which typically comprise 800-1000 lots of affordable Antique, Silver, Jewellery and Collectibles. This role would suit someone with previous experience as a General Valuer, good administrative skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to engage with clients at all levels. Experience as an Auctioneer is preferred but not essential. Working hours are 8.30am-5.00pm Monday to Friday, with some Saturday working on a rota basis.
Responsibilities:
- Dealing with pre-sale and post-sale enquiries
- Cataloguing towards fortnightly auctions
- Production of condition reports
- Providing face-to-face and online general valuations to the public
- Attend and participate in auctions and viewings
- Auctioneering as and when appropriate
- Pre- and post-sale administration
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience in a similar role within an auction house
- The ability to engage with clients at all levels
- An ability to multi-task and prioritise a busy workload in order to meet deadlines
- An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative
- An ability handle heavy items
- Computer literacy
- The ability to drive
- Cataloguing experience
