Job description:

Our client, a regional Auction House in the North West is looking for an experienced General Valuer join their team. This role would suit a team player with experience of period items found in country houses, such as furniture, rugs and clocks.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting valuations for sale, probate and insurance purposes both at the saleroom and the homes of clients (shared pool car provided), building client relationships.
  • Dealing with online valuations and walk-ins.
  • Being responsible for their own area within the Fine & Classic specialist sale which is held four times per year, co-ordinating goods on arrival from clients, booking them in, accurate cataloguing for the online catalogue, photographing each item mainly furniture, clocks, rugs and collectables etc., editing the photographs and uploading to them to the website.
  • Moving stock into place for viewing purposes and lotting up their own specialist areas within the sale.
  • Pre-sale condition reports and talking to buyers, answering questions and queries whilst viewing.
  • On auction days helping with online bidding and telephone bidding.
  • Promotion of the individual specialist sale areas and highlighting to collectors and buyers online any items of interest within the Fine & Classic Sale.
  • Contact clients with post-sale advice letters and discussing future item progress.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team and to help each other where needed.
  • Being responsible for your own sections/sales willing to move stock where appropriate, photograph (training can be given) and attend pre- and post-sale events.
