Job description:
An established and well-respected specialist business is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its small, friendly finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function. This is ideally 3 days per week ( in the office) but there is some flexibility around it for the right person.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing sales and purchase invoices using Sage accounting software.
- Managing supplier payment runs and maintaining accounts payable and receivable.
- Reconciling bank accounts, credit card transactions, online payment receipts, petty cash, and employee expenses.
- Monitoring outstanding customer balances and supporting credit control activities.
- Reconciling financial data between accounting software and internal systems.
- Assisting with month-end processes, management accounts, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Providing general finance, administrative, and office support, including maintaining filing systems and ordering office supplies.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping, finance assistant, or accounts role.
- Practical experience using Sage Accounting (Sage 200 would be advantageous).
- Experience processing invoices, payments, journals, and reconciliations.
- Experience working with multiple currencies and bank accounts.
- Good Microsoft Excel skills.
- AAT qualification (or studying towards Level 3 or above) or an equivalent bookkeeping qualification is desirable but not essential.
- An interest in books, publishing, history, or the cultural heritage sector would be beneficial.
