Job description:
Our client, an established contemporary gallery in Berlin, is looking for a Head of Sales. In close coordination with the gallery owners, the Head of Sales is responsible for managing the Sales Team across all levels and actively developing strategies. The right candidate will inspire the team to sustainably communicate established artistic positions to international collectors and institutions.
Responsibilities:
- You lead an international team of sales employees, some of them remotely
- You will work on the strategic placement of artists’ works in leading and respected collections and institutions
- You represent the gallery at renowned art fairs, at internal and external exhibitions, nationally and internationally
- You provide impulses for the further development of successful sales activities and coordinate closely with the gallery management
- You proactively expand and maintain contacts in the art market
- You manage inquiries from institutions, collectors and interested parties, create offers and successfully close deals
- You oversee the administrative and organisational handling of the sales processes together with other teams
You have the following qualifications:
- You have several years of experience in an international gallery in leading sales teams and developing sales strategies
- Highly motivated with an excellent art expertise, empathy and communication skills, you will support your team and place artworks in close coordination with the gallery owners
- You have in-depth knowledge of art history
- You live in Berlin and are flexible to travel more often
- You enjoy working in a professional team
- Very good IT knowledge and confident handling of common MAC applications and databases (Artlogic)
- Fluent communication skills in German and English; additional language skills are a plus
