Unlocking Success: Hiring International Representatives

Posted by Nina Langford in News · June 2024

The art world is more international than ever, and DRAW has been a steady companion helping our clients across the globe to find suitable and qualified employees. Many European and US galleries have branched out to Asian cities including Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and more recently with Taipei and Seoul; the list continues to grow.

Expansions can be a challenging venture – not only financially investing in new locations and teams, but also finding the right people to work on the ground who understand both your business philosophy. At DRAW, we have always been keen advocates of hiring gallery representatives, a model that so far seems more common in the auction world. Gallery representatives are a great way to test the waters and keep up with the fast-growing landscape of new hotspots.

Local representatives, with an understanding of the mentality of local collectors and museums, provide a huge advantage in terms of accessibility. We have also noticed an increased interest in finding European representatives for our US clients and vice versa. In this upcoming mini-series we are talking to representatives about their experiences.

If you are interested exploring this idea further – as a business or candidate, do get in touch and we can have a chat! Please email lisa@drawrecruitment.com.
