Job description:

Client Development Manager / Senior Client Development Manager

London

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Client Development professional to join one of London’s leading international galleries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a major auction house, blue-chip gallery or luxury brand who enjoys building relationships with collectors and driving commercial growth.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in expanding the gallery’s international client base, developing new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with existing collectors, designers, institutions and industry partners. The position offers a varied mix of client relationship management, business development, events and international art fair participation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture relationships with private collectors, designers, institutions, art advisors and other key industry contacts.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive sales growth.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for client enquiries and relationship management.
  • Manage and develop the client database, creating targeted client lists and sales presentations.
  • Attend major UK and international art fairs, exhibitions and events, representing the gallery.
  • Work closely with senior management on the planning and delivery of client events, exhibitions and art fairs.
  • Coordinate guest lists, budgets, suppliers and event logistics.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on promotional campaigns, press materials and client communications.
  • Support wider business development initiatives and strategic growth plans.

About You

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in client development, sales or relationship management within the art market or luxury sector. You may currently work for a leading international auction house, blue-chip gallery or luxury brand and be looking for an opportunity to take on a broader commercial role.

You will possess:

  • At least five years’ experience within the art market or luxury sector.
  • Strong experience building and managing relationships with high-net-worth clients, collectors or institutions.
  • A commercial mindset with a genuine passion for developing new business.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience organising client events, exhibitions or art fairs.
  • Outstanding organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confidence working both independently and collaboratively within a small, entrepreneurial team.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office; knowledge of Mailchimp, ArtLogic or FileMaker would be advantageous.

Specialist knowledge of the gallery’s collecting areas is not essential, as product knowledge will be developed over time.

This role involves regular UK and international travel to art fairs, exhibitions and client events.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience.
