We are seeking a highly organised and detail orientated Digital Image Technician to join our studio team on a freelance basis for an initial three-month contract.

Working closely with the studio team, you will be responsible for processing and colour-correcting high-resolution scans of original artworks to create accurate digital reproductions for merchandising, publishing, licensing and promotional purposes.

The collection includes a wide range of media, including watercolours, drawings, chalk works and photographic material. The successful candidate will have a strong eye for colour accuracy, excellent Photoshop skills and confidence working with large volumes of digital image files.

This role also involves supporting the organisation, cataloguing and management of digital assets within the studio archive and database.

Key Responsibilities

  • Colour correct and retouch high-resolution scans of original artworks using Adobe Photoshop.
  • Ensure digital reproductions accurately reflect the colour, texture and character of original works.
  • Prepare image files for merchandising, publishing, marketing and promotional use.
  • Perform quality control checks on scanned artwork files.
  • Organise and maintain digital image files according to studio standards.
  • Upload and catalogue digital assets within the studio database and archive systems.
  • Maintain accurate metadata and image records.
  • Assist with image scanning and digitisation projects where required.
  • Collaborate with studio staff to prioritise workflow and meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure digital assets are securely stored and backed up.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Advanced Adobe Photoshop skills, including colour correction and image retouching.
  • Experience working with high-resolution digital image files.
  • Excellent attention to detail and colour accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and file management skills.
  • Confidence working with databases and digital asset management systems.
  • Good understanding of digital imaging workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.
  • Strong computer literacy and technical confidence.

Desirable

  • Experience working with fine art, artist studios, galleries, museums or archives.
  • Knowledge of artwork digitisation and reproduction processes.
  • Experience scanning artwork and photographic material.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management (DAM) systems or collection databases.
  • Interest in contemporary art and artist studio practice.

Contract Details

  • Freelance contract for approximately 3 months.
  • Based primarily at a North London studio.
  • Full-time preferred, although part-time arrangements may be considered for exceptional candidates.
  • Competitive day rate dependent on experience.
