Job description:

General Valuer  Fine Art & Antiques (Auction House, Yorkshire)

A small but growing independent auction house in Yorkshire is seeking a General Valuer to join its team, primarily to support the cataloguing and valuation of Fine Art, Antiques, and Collectables for its monthly sales. The role is central to the preparation and delivery of regular auctions, with an average lot value of approximately £400.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cataloguing entries to a high standard, researching and accurately valuing a wide variety of items, and producing clear, consistent catalogue descriptions. They will also advise on estimates and reserves, assist with vendor communications, and contribute to probate, insurance, and general valuation work where required.

Working within a small and collaborative team, the Valuer will play an important role in maintaining operational efficiency and supporting the continued growth of the business. Additional duties include assisting with viewing days, supporting auction logistics, and helping to develop client relationships.

Applicants should have previous auction house or valuation experience, strong general knowledge of Fine Art and Antiques, and excellent research and cataloguing skills. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential.

This is a full-time position, although part-time applications will be considered. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
