General Valuer & Cataloguer – Devon
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Valuer & Cataloguer to join a well-established independent auction house in Devon. Following significant investment in its premises and facilities, the business is entering an exciting period of growth and is looking for an ambitious individual to play a key role in its future success.
The successful candidate will be responsible for valuing and cataloguing a wide range of antiques, fine art and collectables, while supporting all aspects of the auction process. Duties will include conducting auction, probate and insurance valuations, preparing accurate catalogue descriptions, developing client relationships, undertaking home visits, producing condition reports, assisting with auction viewings and sale preparation, and contributing to business development. There will also be opportunities to undertake auctioneering for candidates with the appropriate experience.
Applicants should have previous auction house experience as a General Valuer, Junior Specialist or Cataloguer, together with sound knowledge across a broad range of antiques and fine art. Strong communication skills, a commercial outlook and a proactive, team-oriented approach are essential. A full UK driving licence is required, while auctioneering experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
