Job description:

Our client, a well-established Fine Art and Antiques Auction House based in Cambridge, is seeking an experienced General Valuer to join their specialist team. This predominantly office-based role combines broad valuation responsibilities with leadership of the Silver Department, with approximately 60% of the position focused on general valuations and 40% dedicated to silver.

The successful candidate will undertake valuations across a wide range of antiques, fine art, collectables, and household contents for auction, probate, insurance, and private sale purposes. They will also be responsible for managing and developing the Silver Department, including researching, cataloguing, valuing, and securing consignments of silver and related objects.

Applicants should possess strong general antiques knowledge, proven valuation experience, and specialist expertise in silver. Excellent client-facing, organisational, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to identify business opportunities and build lasting relationships with vendors, collectors, and trade contacts.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious auction professional to take ownership of a specialist department while working within a respected and growing auction house in Cambridge.

  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Commercial awareness and business development ability.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Location: Cambridge (primarily office-based with occasional external valuations)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
