An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an academically trained Art Historian to join a private collection on an initial three-month contract, with the potential for extension. Working predominantly remotely, the successful candidate will undertake in-depth research and scholarly cataloguing of British Old Master paintings and drawings, while also supporting acquisition research for prospective purchases.
This role is ideally suited to a candidate with a Master’s degree in Art History (PhD desirable) and strong expertise in British painting and drawing, provenance research, attribution, and connoisseurship. The position offers the chance to work at the intersection of academic art history and the art market, producing museum and auction-house standard catalogue entries and providing independent, critical research to inform collecting decisions.
