Senior Registrar, Contemporary Gallery, London

We are looking for Senior Registrar to join the team at a contemporary gallery in London, on a Part-time basis (3 days per week). Responsibilities include:

General management of inventory;

• Add and update artwork information, including availability, images, locations, technical information and insurance values.
• Record packing and document improved house of artworks in storage.
• Maintain gallery stock lists.

Transport and Storage of Artworks;

• Supervise the collection, delivery and storage of artworks, crates and items owned by the gallery.
• Manage the transport of artworks for designated client shipments, exhibitions and art fairs.
• Principle contact for all fine art shippers.
• Complete biannual review of stock.
• Manage and update project budgets as required.
• Main liaison for annual storage rate review and lead on negotiation with shippers.

Customs Documentation

• Ensure company compliance with current import / export legislation in accordance with HMRC regulations
• Monitor and manage any artworks under restricted customs procedures e.g. T/A, Bond, NIRU.
• Ensure accurate paperwork is kept for all shipments.

Museum / Gallery loans

• Support Artist Liaison with loan agreements end to end.
• Manage delivery and proactively monitor the safe return of artworks.
• Ensure loan agreements are correctly stored on the server / in appropriate file and exhibition information is recorded on the inventory.
• Manage condition checking of artworks on return with Exhibition and Operations Director.

Art Fairs

• Coordination of works list including framing, transport, work details.
• Collate technical information on works for the sales team in conjunction with Exhibition and Operations Director.
• End to end shipping of works to and from fairs.
• All post sales files and onward shipping from fairs in accordance with local customs procedures.

Insurance

• Ensure appropriate cover is in place for exhibitions, art fairs and individual shipments.
• Manage external shipments to ensure client / consignee has relevant cover prior to shipping.
• Annual insurance renewal.
