A highly regarded business in the art and luxury sector is looking for an experienced sales person to join their gallery, within a Client Development/ Sales role.
Main Responsibilities
- Primary contact for client enquiries
- Liaise with clients to develop sales, relationships, and interest lists
- Attend art fairs both in the UK and abroad
- Managing the client database
- Develop enhanced contact and prepare presentations for known, as well as potential collectors, curators, designers, art advisors, corporate collectors, architects, yacht builders, and other art promoters
- Identify, plan, and execute sales strategies for new clients
- Working with the Sales Administrator to update information and prepare mailing lists for art fairs and other events
- Working with the creative team to design and produce marketing materials and press releases
- Work with the Senior Management Team to develop a program of events from conception, guest lists, production, budget management, and post event This includes establishing and managing relationships with key suppliers such as caterers, production companies, alcohol suppliers and florists
- Support the Senior Management Team in development and execution of artist exhibitions and art fairs
- Build relationships with external partners to develop opportunities
The Person
Considerable experience in the art or luxury trade sectors is essential. Specialist knowledge of the objects the gallery deal in is not required but is expected that knowledge of the artists and their work as well as of antique objects will develop during employment.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in dealing with collectors, designers, and institutions developing sales and relationships. They will also have experience of executing successful events coupled with excellent project management skills and a knowledge of the art world calendar.
The role is client facing and will involve both national and internationally travel for fairs, exhibitions, and events. The role’s primary goal is to actively increase sales as well as client and brand development.
- Experience working within the art world or luxury environment, ideally within an auction house or gallery
- Proven experience of delivering events and building client relationships
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy in work standard
- Competent in using Microsoft suite and Mailchimp, ideally experience with ArtLogic and Filemaker
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Hours
Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00 with 1 hour lunch. Some additional time for art fairs and exhibitions
