Jewellery Specialist

A well-established and highly regarded Fine Art Auction House is seeking a Jewellery Specialist to join its growing team. This opportunity is open to candidates from Junior Specialist through to Senior Specialist level, with responsibilities and remuneration reflecting experience.

The successful candidate will combine strong jewellery expertise with commercial awareness and a passion for delivering exceptional client service. Previous auction house experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Cataloguing and valuing jewellery for auction sales
• Researching gemstones, diamonds, period jewellery, and designer pieces
• Preparing accurate catalogue descriptions and condition reports
• Conducting valuations for auction, probate, insurance, and private clients
• Developing and maintaining relationships with collectors, dealers, private clients, and industry contacts
• Identifying and securing consignments for specialist sales
• Supporting valuation days, client events, and business development initiatives
• Working closely with marketing teams to maximise sale performance and client engagement
• Assisting with auction viewings and sale-day activities

Candidate Profile

• Previous auction house experience within a jewellery department is essential
• Strong knowledge of jewellery, gemstones, diamonds, and the wider jewellery market
• Professional jewellery qualifications (e.g. FGA, Gem-A, GIA or equivalent) would be advantageous
• Excellent research, cataloguing, and valuation skills
• Strong communication and client relationship management abilities
• Commercial mindset with an understanding of the auction market
• Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines effectively
